Courses 1-7 are available in a PMI®-based version (for Inc locations) and an APM-based version (for UK locations). Locations other than UK and Inc may book whichever course provides the appropriate accreditation. For locations in the "Rest of World" (RoW), information on these and other courses may be obtained through the BAE Systems Project Management Authority (PMA).

This curriculum for PMDY Core Courses 1-7 has been specifically targeted for BAE Systems personnel who are in Project Manager career paths. In addition, it provides a foundation in project management, a valuable resource for personnel such as:

  • Project Managers
  • Other project team members with leadership responsibilities
  • Technical team leads
  • Functional managers with employees assigned to program and project teams
  • Managers of program managers
  • Anyone with an interest in Program Management at BAE Systems

Pre-Course Basic Knowledge Areas (BKA) Assessment PMI® / APM

BAE Systems recommends that before attending these courses, participants complete the two-hour skills assessment which identifies their strengths and areas for improvement. The assessment, along with this six-course curriculum will provide participants with the knowledge necessary to prepare for either the PMI® PMP or the APM APMP examination and certification.

The Basic Knowledge Areas (BKA) assessment is designed to validate the participant's knowledge in the basic project management knowledge areas as identified in the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge ( PMBOK® Guide).

Similarly, the APM BKA assessment uses a series of questions concerning the knowledge areas applicable to the APM Body of Knowledge (APMBoK).

These assessments may be found on the BAE Systems portion of the website: www.amciweb.com. For information on how to access the assessments, contact your PMA.

The assessment results are provided immediately and confidentially to the participants and are intended for their use in identifying their strengths or weaknesses in the BKA's. Armed with this information, the participants can make informed decisions about the PMDY courses they should attend.
